SUBSCRIPTION

Primarily aimed at individuals who fly frequently and mostly on business.
Some airlines offer a family subscription (minimum 2 members)
The subscription gives a 15 to 30% reduction on ticket prices and a number of other advantages (baggage allowance, insurance, hotels, etc.).
The subscription offers frequent flyers loyalty programme membership for certain airlines.
Passengers accumulate air miles that can later be turned into free journeys or other advantages.

PETS

Pets are allowed:
- in the hold if weighing more than 5kg
- in the cabin if weighing 5kg or less.

The tariff for pets travelling in the hold generally corresponds to the excess baggage tariff.
A charge is not usually applied for animals travelling in the cabin or guide dogs travelling in the hold.
Note
Please inform the airline of any animals that will be travelling when making your reservation. No more than 2 pets are generally allowed in the cabin per flight.
Contact the airline for information on vaccinations and formalities required.
Make sure you are carrying your pet’s health records.
Your pet may need to be quarantined (UK, Eire, etc.) or may not be allowed into certain countries

CANCELLATION (Ticket / Reservation / Flight)

- tickets for scheduled flights:
You can either defer your trip and use your ticket at a later date before it expires or you can definitively cancel your trip and present your ticket within 30 days for refund.
NB!
A full refund of some promotional or reduced-price tickets is subject to terms and conditions unless you have taken out travel insurance that covers cancellation.

- tickets for charter flights:
Tickets are not refunded for cancelled trips unless you have taken out a travel insurance that covers cancellation and refunds tickets under certain circumstances.
However, some travel agencies offer partial or price-paid refunds if tickets are cancelled with a given amount of notice.

- reservation:
(ticket price unpaid)
As above, make sure you inform your airline or travel agent of this change as soon as possible.

- flight cancellation:
You are entitled to a full refund.
Depending on the reasons for cancellation and if you are able to prove that this cancellation resulted directly in a financial or moral loss, you can request damages.

BAGGAGE

- Hold baggage
Checking in
Only usual baggage can be checked in. Bulky objects will be automatically sent as freight. For other objects such as bikes and skis, contact your airline.
Your checked-in baggage is transported in the hold at no extra charge up to a certain limit (weight or number of bags, depending on airline) referred to as excess. Excess varies depending on the type of ticket and the destination.
An excess baggage tax will be applied for each excess kilo.
Delivery/dispute
You can claim compensation if your baggage is late, lost or damaged during air transportation.
Compensation is generally limited to a certain amount and you are advised to take out an additional insurance that provides comprehensive cover against late, lost and damaged baggage.
NB!
For the settlement of all disputes, you will need to present your ticket stub and baggage receipt given at check-in.
- Hand luggage
In addition to your hold baggage allowance, you can carry one item of hand luggage for free and at your own risk. The total of the three hand luggage dimensions must not exceed 115cm (e.g. 40x55x20cm).
Generally speaking, larger items such as wheelchairs, collapsible pushchairs, cameras, etc. are accepted.
NB!
Do not place objects considered to be dangerous in hand luggage to be x-ray checked.

IDENTITY

You are advised to always carry a form of identity with you even if you are not always required to present it.
When travelling to Overseas French Territories and foreign countries, you must carry a passport or valid identity card.

CHARTER FLIGHTS

Charter flights are flights that are only scheduled at certain times of the year. These tickets are usually sold by tour operators at often-attractive prices. However, these tickets are subject to restricted conditions of use (impossible to change departure date or choose the day and time of flight, etc.).

WARSAW CONVENTION

This convention concerns the responsibility of your airline during international travel. In France, airlines are governed by this convention. In accordance with this regulation, airlines are considered to be responsible for damage that occurs during air transportation. Airlines may only be exempted from this responsibility if they can prove that they took all necessary measures to avoid this damage or that it was impossible to take these measures.

CURRENCIES

The amount of currency you carry is not limited by French law. However, whether you are a French resident or not, you must declare sums of money and securities carried that amount to FRF50,000 or more when entering or leaving French soil. Contact the Consulate or tourist office in the country you are travelling to for information on local regulations. Some countries only allow you to enter with a limited amount of French francs, while others do not allow you to enter with any.

CHECKING IN

You need to present your ticket at your airline’s check-in desk in the airport terminal. The ground staff will check that your ticket is valid, check-in your hold baggage and inform you which gate to board from. Check-in time varies depending on destination, airlines and type of passengers (passengers with reduced mobility, passenger with pets, etc.). Contact your airline for further information.

UNACCOMPANIED MINORS

You need to present your ticket at your airline’s check-in desk in the airport terminal. The ground staff will check that your ticket is valid, check-in your hold baggage and inform you which gate to board from. Check-in time varies depending on destination, airlines and type of passengers (passengers with reduced mobility, passenger with pets, etc.). Contact your airline for further information.

FORMALITIES

(Source: Civil Aviation Directorate) When travelling to a neighbouring European Union country (Spain, Belgium, etc.), you can enter with your national identity card or a passport – even one that has expired (by not more than 5 years). When travelling to other EU countries (Bulgaria, Romania), you can enter with a valid identity card. When visiting certain countries (Morocco, Turkey, Tunisia, etc.) as a tourist, you will need to present a valid identity card for entry. For other foreign destinations (Brazil, Egypt, Mauritius, etc.), you will need to present a passport that is either valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into the country or 6 months from the date of your return trip. NB! You will need a visa to enter some countries and will need to contact the Embassy or Consulate of the country you intend to visit. Make sure you leave yourself enough time to apply for your visa.

SMOKERS

Smoking is not permitted in the terminal building, except in designated areas. In accordance with national regulations in effect, all internal French airline flights of under 2 hours are no smoking. Most airline flights of under 1.5 hours are also no-smoking and no-smoking flights are becoming increasingly common in Europe. Some long-haul flights (United States, Canada) are also no smoking.

PREGNANCY

Pregnant women are not normally allowed to fly after their 8th month of pregnancy.

LOST PROPERTY

Lost property is kept by the Information Desk, located between Arrivals and Departures, for one year and one day.

PASSPORT

Within certain EU or border countries (in 1997: Bulgaria, Iceland, Malta, Romania, Switzerland) and during tourist trips to certain foreign countries (Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Turkey) you simply need to carry a valid identity card. To travel elsewhere, French nationals will need to carry a valid passport. Your children can be included on your passport until the age of 14. Adolescents of 15 and older will need their own passport.

SECURITY/SAFETY

Hand luggage is scanned using an electronic checking device and all passengers must walk through a metal detector. NB! Never carry bags or parcels for anyone else. Do not leave your luggage unattended in the airport terminal. French regulations and regulations in a number of other countries specify that unattended baggage be destroyed immediately.

MOBILE PHONE

Many airlines equip their planes with an on-board telephone available to passengers. For strict safety reasons, the use of mobile telephones is strictly forbidden for the duration of the flight.
